Beatrice is the head of the Projects, Energy & Restructuring Practice at IKM. With over eighteen (18) years’ experience, she has specialized in Projects, Energy & Restructuring and has acted for clients across the entire value chain including public sector entities, commercial lenders and project sponsors in PPPs, infrastructure, energy and public procurement. Her cross-border reach covers 21 jurisdictions in Africa. She has been recognised by various legal directories including Chambers Global, Legal 500 and IFLR 1000 as one of the outstanding commercial lawyers in Kenya.To date, 9 of the renewable energy projects she advised on have reached financial close. These include 3 out of the 4 projects that propelled Kenya’s installed electricity capacity beyond a landmark 3,000MW in 2022. Her relentless commitment to the practice saw the firm receive the Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Team of the year (Small to mid-practice Kenya) as well as the Restructuring Team of the year (Kenya) awards at the African Legal Awards, 2022. Previous awards include the Transportation and Infrastructure Team of the year in 2016. In 2019, Beatrice also received an award at the Africa Energy Forum, Lisbon, in recognition of her contribution to Africa’s energy sector.Beatrice’s professional qualifications include membership to the Law Society of Kenya and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is also a former member of the PPP Petitions Committee of Kenya. Beatrice is a thought leader in the projects, energy and restructuring spheres as demonstrated by her periodic contributions to the Business Daily, a widely read Kenyan business newspaper.
